          Sumi-Ne Goat of Nagaland also known as “Nagaland long hair goat” is reared by Sumi tribes in traditional open range system with almost zero input. Estimated population is about 4,500. It is a medium sized goat reared mainly for its silky fibre. Coat colour is white with black patches on head, neck and legs. Head is straight. Ears are horizontal. Horns are pointed, small sized and curved backwards. Beard is present. Long silky fibres obtained from these goats are used by local people for making traditional items with socio-cultural significance.
